PURPOSE:
The bids for Contract 2015-079A - Mitchell WTP 2019 Improvements Volume I - Major Electrical-High Service Pumping-Parts Warehouse and Volume II - Filter Backwash Pumps Replacement Project have been received. In order for the work to proceed on this contract, City Council approval is requested for award of the contract to English Construction Company, Inc. in the amount of $16,927,000.00.
BACKGROUND:
This work consists of civil; architectural; process mechanical; structural; heating; ventilating and air conditioning; electrical and instrumentation. General improvements include site work, demolition, electrical ductbanks, new Electrical Building, modification to existing buildings, switchgear, variable frequency drives, new pumps and piping, flow metering, chemical trenches, stand-by generator, and fuel storage, The bids for this project were opened on July 18, 2019 and the apparent lowest, responsible bidder is English Construction Company, Inc. (Lynchburg, VA) with a bid of $16,927,000.00.
The M/WBE utilization goal was MBE 14% and WBE 10%.
The contractor's commitment is MBE 16.3% and WBE 28.3%.
