PURPOSE:
The Greensboro Police Department has received funds from the NC Department of Revenue Unauthorized Substances Tax proceeds in the amount of $138,000. The department wishes to use the grant funds to upgrade the two elevators located at the Police Department Headquarters building.
BACKGROUND:
The elevators at the Police Department Headquarters building are in need of an overhaul as they have had numerous service complaints, repairs and outages. The police department will pay for 50% of the project, quoted at $274,839 for the entire modernization. The department wishes to use Unauthorized Substances Tax proceeds for the project. The balance of the project will come from Engineering and Inspections Building Maintenance funds.
The project has been deemed critical and the City Manager's Office agreed that Engineering and Inspections may issue an emergency / urgent purchase order / contract for rebuilding the mechanical components of the Police Headquarters elevator at a cost of approximately $275,000.
BUDGET IMPACT:
There is no adverse budgetary impact. The funds will be housed in account 220-3595-01. Engineering and Inspections will need to complete a budget adjustment for the funding.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
It is requested that the Greensboro City Council approve the budget adjustment and adopt the attached budget ordinance establishing funding in the amount...
