PURPOSE:
A budget ordinance is needed to establish the budget for U-5532 K North Elm Street Sidewalk Improvements.
BACKGROUND:
Project U-5533 K will construct sidewalks and accessible curb ramps on North Elm Street from Cone Boulevard to the end of existing sidewalks near Irving Park Court. This municipal agreement provides for NCDOT to reimburse the City with federal funds for up to 80% of right-of-way, utilities relocation and construction costs. Funds were directed to the project by the MPO Transportation Advisory Committee in cooperation with NCDOT.
This Agreement defines the cost, and construction responsibilities of the City and the NCDOT, including the terms to which the City must comply in order to receive reimbursements.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Funding for this project will be as follows:
$1,008,000 (80%) Federal Funds
$252,000 (20%) 2008 Bond Funds
$1,260,000
Local matching funds will come from 2008 Bond Fund account 471-4502-15.6401. A budget adjustment is required to move funds to the appropriate account.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
The Transportation Department recommends and requests approval of the attached ordinance establishing the budget for U-5532 K North Elm Street Sidewalk Improvements.
