PURPOSE:
The City of Greensboro has received funds in the amount of $2,088,154 from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) to support eligible expenses for the Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2019 FTA CMAQ Operations Assistance Grant. A budget ordinance must be approved to allow the expenditure of funds.
BACKGROUND:
The CMAQ program funds transportation related environmental projects for areas in nonattainment or maintenance for ozone, carbon monoxide, and/or particulate matter. The City of Greensboro received $2,088,154 in CMAQ funding to support costs associated with the creation of a new route and expansion of service hours on heavily used connector routes. These funds will cover three years of operation from fiscal year 2020 to fiscal year 2022.
BUDGET IMPACT:
The City has been awarded federal funds in the amount of $2,088,154. The City will be required to provide a local match in the form of In-Kind Services in the amount of $522,038. No additional City funds are required. The total project funding is as follows:

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
The Department of Transportation recommends and requests that the City Council approve the attached budget ordinance establishing the budget for the FFY2019 FTA Congestion Mitigation Air Quality Operations Assistance grant.
