PURPOSE:
The bids for Contract 2019-0050, Sewer and Water Line Rehabilitation 2019 Project, have been received. In order for work to proceed, City Council approval is requested for award of the contract to KRG Utility, Inc. in the amount of $5,093,229.24.

BACKGROUND:
The work consists of sanitary sewer rehabilitation through a variety of rehab methods including pipe burst, slip-lining, cured-in-place pipe (CIPP); sewer manhole rehab; point repairs; open-cut dig and re-lay; trenchless lateral removal; open-cut lateral replacements; water main pipe burst; water main dig and re-lay; and water service renewal and open-cuts. Ancillary tasks include, but are not limited to, water valve replacement, fire hydrant replacement, sidewalk and pavement replacement, and other site renewal tasks.

The bids were opened on June 19, 2019 and the apparent lowest, responsive, responsible bidder is KRG Utility, Inc. (Kernersville, NC) with a bid of $5,093,229.24.

The MWBE goals were MBE 3% and WBE 5%.
The contractor's commitment is MBE 5% and WBE 8%.

No other bids received were received.

The proposed date of start for construction is August 19, 2019. The proposed date of completion is August 9, 2020.

BUDGET IMPACT:
Funds in the amount of $5,093,229.24 for this contract are budgeted in the following Water Resources Capital Improvement Fund accounts: $934,363.15 in 503-7028-01.6016 A19061 and $4,158,866.09 in 503-7028-02.6017 A19063.
