PURPOSE:
City Council is being requested to approve the contract extension related to design services for the design of Fire Station No. 56 and award the contract to ADW Architects.
BACKGROUND:
In order to better serve and meet the needs of fire protection coverage to the citizens of Greensboro, the Fire Department will be replacing the current fire station located at 820 Franklin Blvd. The new station will provide much needed upgrades and services not currently available at this aged station location. Facilities Construction has solicited the services of ADW Architects to provide the City with full design services for the design this new permanent Fire Station that the Fire Department will use to serve this community.
Added scope of work has been requested to include design services for a pre-engineered metal Storage Building at Fire Station no. 56 at a cost of $36,880.00 to be used as a temporary living quarters and apparatus building during construction of Fire Station No. 56.
BUDGET IMPACT:
The Greensboro Fire Department will provide funding from the following account number(s): 455-4008-01.5410
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
The Fire Department & E&I requests that City Council approve the contract extension and award the contract for the design of Fire Station no. 56 to ADW Architects in the amount of $36,880.00.
