PURPOSE:
A resolution needs to be approved to authorize execution of a municipal agreement with NCDOT for U-5532 G: Sidewalk Improvements Project.
BACKGROUND:
Project U-5532 G will construct sidewalks on 1) Byers Road on the west side from Lees Chapel road to Byers Ridge Drive; 2) Four Season Boulevard on the east side from Vanstory Street to Creekridge Road; 3) Pear Street on both sides from Ardmore Drive to Gate City Boulevard; and 4) Summit Avenue on the east side from Rankin Road to south of Buffalo Creek. The construction phase of U-5532 G is 80% funded by federal funds allocated through the Transportation Advisory Committee in cooperation with the NCDOT and 20% funded by transportation bond funds provided by the City of Greensboro.
This Agreement defines the cost, and construction responsibilities of the City and the NCDOT, including the terms to which the City must comply in order to receive reimbursements.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Funding for this project will be budgeted in Street and Sidewalk Capital Project Fund account 401-4576-01 as follows:
$919,760 Federal Funds (80%)
$229,940 2008 Bond Funds (20%)
$1,149,700
A budget adjustment is required to move matching funds to the correct account.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
Transportation staff recommends and requests City Council approve the attached resolution authorizing a municipal agreement with NC Department of Transportation for U-5532 G: General Sidewalk Improvements Project.
