PURPOSE:
The purpose of this ordinance is to appropriate funds received from the sale of real estate in the amount of $485,800 to fund maintenance, repair, and capital needs at various Parks and Recreation facilities. A budget ordinance needs to be approved by the City Council to permit the appropriation of expenditures and revenues.

BACKGROUND:
Parks and Recreation has identified a number of maintenance, repair, and capital needs. This includes the addition of a sailboat dock and bulkhead repairs at Lake Townsend, a kayak launch at Lake Brandt, signage for Barber Park and the Barber Park Event Center, upgrades to Kings Forest Park, repairs and upgrades at the Farmers Curb Market, bleacher replacements for multiple recreation centers, and other Parks and Recreation facility upgrades. These project expenses will be funded by the proceeds of the sale of the Dorothy Bardolph Human Services Center. On January 19, 2016, City Council approved the use of proceeds from this sale for Parks and Recreation maintenance projects as well as Engineering for building maintenance projects. This ordinance establishes the necessary appropriations for identified Parks and Recreation projects.

BUDGET IMPACT:
This ordinance appropriates $485,800 from the sale of real estate in account 411-5001-01 for:

Maintenance & Improvements-Grounds $20,000
Maintenance & Repairs-Buildings $305,800
Maintenance & Repair-Equipment $70,000
Other Capital Equipment $90,000
$485,800
