PURPOSE: To extend the existing agreement between the City of Greensboro and Natural Science Center of Greensboro, Inc. in the amount of $381,670 for Phase I design development and Phase II schematic design of the Battleground Park District Plan.

BACKGROUND:
On November 8, 2016 City of Greensboro voters approved a Parks and Recreation bond referendum in the amount of $34,500,000 and of that $5,000,000 was allocated for the initial development of the Battleground Parks District (BPD).

On July 17, 2017, City Council approved a contract in the amount of $615,000 with $200,000 going toward design of first phase of development of BPD and approximately $415,000 allocated parking lot improvements. The Natural Science Center of Greensboro, Inc. ("NSC") was responsible for obtaining construction bids. NSC also followed by all local, State and federal laws, including Minority/Women's Business Enterprises requirements, and comply with anti-discrimination laws on the basis of gender, race, color, religion, national origin, age, and disability. All plans, bids, and construction were approved by the City.

The parking lot expansion project was completed in 2018. The conceptual design for Phase I was completed in January 2019. Based on the conceptual design of Phase I the NSC and the City of Greensboro would like to move forward with extending the design contract for Phase I design development and Phase II schematic design
