PURPOSE:
City Council approval is requested to authorize water and sewer connections to serve warehousing facilities to be located at 6900 Konica Drive in Guilford County. The proposed connection was requested by the property owner, Zink Imaging, Inc City Council approval is required for exceptions to the City of Greensboro policy for water and sewer services outside the corporate limits. The proposed utility connection resides outside the Water Sewer Service Area (WSSA) Boundary and does not meet the economic development criteria stipulated within the City of Greensboro Policy for Water and Sewer Services "Outside the Corporate Limits" adopted with amendments by City Council on May 20, 2014.
BACKGROUND:
On March 18, 2019, Water Resources Department received a request for water and sewer connections for proposed warehousing facilities to be located at 6900 Konica Drive. Water is currently available to serve the facility along Konica Drive, and sewer is available on the southern boundary of the property. These lines were installed as part of an industrial development, which currently includes businesses such as Zink Imaging, Inc. and Red Oak Brewery.
Since the property is located outside the Water Sewer Service Area Boundary, the City of Greensboro Water and Sewer Services "Outside the Corporate Limits" policy does not administratively allow approval of this type of request, and a specific authorization is requested to be approved by Council.
