PURPOSE:
City Council approval is requested to authorize a water connection to serve a proposed clean bulk water transport facility to be located at 401 NC HWY 62 West in Guilford County. The proposed connection was requested by Davis Water Service Incorporated. City Council approval is required for exceptions to the City of Greensboro policy for water and sewer services outside the corporate limits. The proposed utility connection resides outside the Water Sewer Service Area (WSSA) Boundary and does not meet the economic development criteria stipulated within the City of Greensboro Policy for Water and Sewer Services "Outside the Corporate Limits" adopted with amendments by City Council on May 20, 2014.

BACKGROUND:
On February 19, 2019 Water Resources Department received a request from Davis Water Service Inc. requesting approval of a connection to the city's water system. Water is currently available to serve the facility as a result of the city's water transmission main that conveys water from the Piedmont Triad Regional Water Authority (PTRWA). The water main runs along the northern property boundary of the proposed facility.

Davis Water Service currently provides water filling and transportation services at the property using a hydrant and city issued hydrant meter.
