PURPOSE:
City Council is being requested to approve the award of Contract 2017-073 to S&S Building and Development, LLC for the renovation of three athletic fields and associated improvements at Hester Park for the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of Greensboro.
BACKGROUND:
Funding for improvements to Hester Park fields was in the 2008 voter-approved parks and recreation bond package. Execution of this contract allows for grading of three athletic fields for regulation play, fencing, irrigation, erosion control and installation of associated athletic equipment at Hester Park.
The project was bid on February 21, 2019 and three bids were received. S&S Building and Development, LLC was the lowest responsible bidder.

Bar Construction $865,000 MBE 17.42% WBE 5.96%
The M/WBE Office reviewed the documentation submitted by S&S Building and Development, LLC to determine compliance with the City of Greensboro M/WBE Program Plan. The M/WBE Goal Setting Committee established contract specific goals of MBE 10% and WBE 10%. S&S Building & Development met the MBE goal at 18% and made a GFE for the WBE goal. BUDGET IMPACT:
The total project cost is $805,929. $589,618 is budgeted in account number 472-5006-01.6019 and $216,311 is budgeted in account 482-5001-09.6019.
