PURPOSE:
Parks and Recreation is requesting a contract change order Contract #2016-0150 for the construction of the Barber Park Event Center and Ruth Wicker Tribute to Women project to provide additional improvements associated with the overall construction of the project. In order to finalize the final payment of the contract for work performed, approval for a contract change order is requested.

BACKGROUND:
In 2009, Shermin Ata, Architect, PLLC was selected to provide design and construction documents for the second phase implementation of the adopted Barber Park master plan for the community building and memorial to the women of Greensboro. On April 14, 2016 the City authorized professional construction services contract #2016-0150 with Holden Company Building, Inc., in the amount of $3,000,436 to construct the new Barber Park Event Center and Ruth Wicker Tribute to Women The original contract provided for site preparation and construction of the Barber Park Event Center and Ruth Wicker Tribute to Women. Additional work contained within the change order includes revisions to the trusses and steel, asphalt and electrical. The grand opening of the building was held in January 2019 and due to ongoing negotiations between the architect, builder, and City the change final payment and change order were finalized after the opening. The change order will allow the final payment for the existing contract to Holden Company Building, Inc.

The established contract goals for the project, as established by the City's M/WBE Office, were set at MBE 8% and WBE 7%. Holden Building Company, Inc. submitted goals compliant...
