PURPOSE:
The City of Greensboro Water Resources Department is requesting to enter into a change order to a professional services contract with Arcadis G&M of North Carolina, Inc. to provide additional design services for the Birch Creek Water and Sewer Line Extension project.
BACKGROUND:
The Birch Creek Water and Sewer Line Extension project includes the installation of water and sewer lines to support commercial/industrial development east of the City. Approximately 5,200 linear feet of additional 21-inch gravity sewer will be designed through the commercial site. Work under this change order contract consists of surveying, engineering design, and permitting services for the construction of sewer line extensions. The professional services of Arcadis G&M of North Carolina, Inc., an on-call consultant, are recommended for this project based on their knowledge and previous design experience with the City’s water and sewer collection system. JC Waller and Associates, PC and Cartographic Aerial Mapping will provide the additional surveying services for the project. Both Minority Business Enterprise firms are within the ten county MSA and are part of the Arcadis G&M of North Carolina, Inc. on-call services team. The anticipated MBE utilization for this change order design services contract is 21% of the total contract amount. The total MBE utilization for Contract 2018-0420 is 21%.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Funding is budgeted in the Water Resources Capital Improvements Fund account 503-7028-02.5410 in the amount of $275,000. A budget adjustment is needed to use this account.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
The Water Resources Department recommends City Council approve the professional services contract with Arcadis G&M of North Carolina, Inc in the amount of $275,000 and the associated budget adjustment.
