PURPOSE:
Parks and Recreation is requesting a contract change order Contract #2018-0320 for the construction of the Henry Street Park Improvements project to provide additional improvements associated with the extended overall construction of the project. In order to construct the additional improvements, approval for a contract change order is requested.

BACKGROUND:
On July 15, 2014, City Council authorized the sale of 7.004 acres of the Henry Street Neighborhood Park to KRC Greensboro Limited Partnership for the expansion of Abbotswood. The remaining three acres and proceeds from the sale are being used for improvements to the Henry Street Neighborhood Park. On September 20, 2018, the City authorized professional construction services contract #2018-0320 with Bar Construction Company, in the amount of $298,000 to improve Henry Street Park to develop the City's first multi/intergenerational park. The original contract provided for site preparation and upgrades to utilities to support a paved walking loop, multisport court, fitness equipment, swings, playground, landscaping and site furnishings. Additional work contained within the change order also includes additional structural support added to the concrete pad for the multi-court and the stage, the addition of a bollard per plan changes requested by TRC, the addition of a catch basin and piping between the existing shelter and the new playground equipment.
