PURPOSE:

City Council approval is requested to convey a Permanent Drainage/Utility Easement to North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to improve drainage in completing a Bridge Replacement at McConnell Road, Parcel #0118732.

BACKGROUND:

The easement of 4,193.422 Sq. Ft. (0.096 acres) will be used to improve drainage in completing the Bridge Replacement (Bridge #224) at McConnell Road over Buffalo Creek. It will also serve as a place to accommodate construction activities.

North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) used the fair market value of the property to determine the cost.  The fair market value of the permanent utility easement is $2,600.

Since the easement is an encumbrance on City property, City Council approval is required for the

Conveyance.

BUDGET IMPACT:

Proceeds of $2,600 will be deposited into the Water Resources Water and Sewer Enterprise Fund account 501-0000-00.8616.

RECOMMENDATION/ACTION REQUESTED:
