PURPOSE:

To amend Sec. 12-23 of the Greensboro Code of Ordinances to conform to Session Law 2018-105.

BACKGROUND:

The General Assembly passed Session Law 2018-105 (HB 1080) during the 2018 session.  This local act created the Criminal Justice Advisory Commission and assigned the Police Community Review Board (PCRB) as its subcommittee.  Under S.L. 2018-105, members of the Police Community Review Board are to be appointed by City Council.  Previously, the PCRB was a subcommittee of the Human Relations Commission with its members appointed by the Human Relations Commission.  Greensboro Code of Ordinances Sec. 12-23 now requires an amendment because the PCRB is no longer a subcommittee of the Human Relations Commission.

BUDGET IMPACT:

None.

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:

It is recommended that City Council amend Sec. 12-23 of the Greensboro Code of Ordinances to make it conform with S.L. 2018-105.
