PURPOSE:
The bids for Contract 2018-063A - North Buffalo Cured-in-Place Pipe (CIPP) have been received. In order for the work to proceed on this contract, City Council approval is requested for award of the contract to KRG Utility, Inc. for $4,799,788.40.
BACKGROUND:
This work consists of installation of approximately 39,000 linear feet of Cured-in-Place Pipe for sanitary sewer ranging in size from 6-inch to 24-inch diameter and for the associated lateral repair with the rehabilitated pipe and point repairs. The bids were opened on December 4, 2018 and the apparent lowest, responsible bidder is KRG Utility, Inc. (Lenoir, NC) with a bid of $4,799,788.40.
The M/WBE utilization goal was MBE 2% and WBE 2%.
The contractor’s commitment is MBE 2.1% and WBE 2.1%.

The proposed date for start of construction is January 28, 2019. The proposed date of completion is October 5, 2019.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Funds in the amount of $4,799,788.40 for this construction contract are budgeted in the Water Resources Capital Improvement Fund account 503-7028-02.6017 A19046. A budget adjustment is needed to use this account.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
It is recommended by the Departments of Engineering & Inspections and Water Resources that City Council approve the bid and award Contract 2018-063A - North Buffalo Cured-in-Place Pipe (CIPP) to KRG Utility, Inc. for the bid amount of $4,799,788.40 and budget adjustment.
