PURPOSE:

City Council approval is requested to grant a utility easement to Duke Energy in order for them to install approximately 75 feet of duct bank and three transformers at 112 East Market Street, Parcel 0000004, to provide electrical service for the existing load, new parking deck load, and load for future impacts.

BACKGROUND:

Duke Energy will install a duct bank from the Manhole in February One to property for the parking deck and will install 3 pad mounted transformers on the ground level of the parking deck. We will need to maintain a 10’ clearance in front of each door, and a 3’ clearance around all sides.  These will serve Pad #1 existing load, Pad #2 new parking deck load and Pad #3 future parcel loads. From the transformer for the existing load we will install a duct bank that will go west toward the back of the existing building 75’ then turn and go north along the alley way behind 101 S. Elm Street to the existing man hole and then to the new customer meter cabinet on the back of 101 S. Elm St. This will be approximately 135’ that will be installed by the customer. Duke Energy requires an easement to install the transformer and underground service lines to the site.

BUDGET IMPACT:

No budget impact is expected for granting this permanent utility easement.

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
