PURPOSE:
The Property Management Section of the Engineering and Inspections Department is in the process of purchasing property for the Fire Station #07 Expansion Project. City Council approval is requested.

BACKGROUND:
The Greensboro Fire Department has approved plans for the expansion of Fire Station #07. The main purpose of the project is to be able to rebuild and expand Fire Station #07 in the same location that it is currently located. Strategically, Fire Station #07 is in the most advantageous location to provide emergency response coverage to those residents in that planning grid. A larger facility footprint is needed due to the larger presence of personnel and the size of the current day apparatus. The Fire Department needs an alternative location to temporarily accommodate staff, equipment, and one firetruck in order to continue meeting emergency response coverage.

The subject property is located at 3717 Near Sunnycrest Avenue, parcel #0021896. This property is owned by House of Prayer Christian Churches of America, Inc. The property to be purchased has a tax value of $209,500. After negotiations, the owner has agreed to accept $100,000. The Fire Department has approved the negotiated amount.

The property is zoned R-5 (Single-family Residential). The property is 176,853 Sq. Ft. (4.06 acres). There is a building on the property that consists of 6,400 Sq. Ft.

BUDGET IMPACT:
Funding in the amount of $100,000 for this purchase is available in the temporary Engineering & Inspections section fund: Account #411-6018-04....
