PURPOSE:
City Council approval is requested to convey a Permanent Utility Easement to Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC in order for them to install approximately 500 feet of primary cable and a transformer at 221 West Meadowview Road, Parcel 0029301, to provide electrical service to a GTA Operations Facility and Administrative Offices for the Proterra Electrical Buses Charging Stations.
BACKGROUND:
Duke Energy will have an in-line pole installed under existing primary lines in the City Right of way at 221 West Meadowview Road. Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC will bury a 3-Phase 1/0 Underground Primary Cable approximately 500 feet parallel to the bus lot and then pull the remaining cable through customer installed conduit to transverse under the paved parking lot and enter in the customer installed pit pad. Duke Energy will then install a 500 kva pad mount transformer to service the charging station. The charging station will be metered at the transformer. Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC requires an easement to install the transformer and underground service lines to the site.
The subject property is zoned CD-LI (Conditional District Light Industrial). The Permanent Utility Easement is 7,567 Sq. Ft. (.17 acres).
BUDGET IMPACT:
No budget impact is expected with the conveyance of this permanent utility easement.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
The Property Management section of the Engineering and Inspections Department recommends the approval of this conveyance to Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC.
