PURPOSE:
The City of Greensboro has received funds in the amount of $561,244 from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) to support eligible expenses for the Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2018 FTA Section 5339 Bus and Bus Facilities Grant. A budget ordinance must be approved to allow the expenditure of funds.
BACKGROUND:
Section 5339 funds can be used to replace, rehabilitate, and purchase buses, vans, and related equipment and to construct bus-related facilities. The City of Greensboro will utilize the funding to purchase six (6) paratransit vehicles as replacements for six (6) paratransit vehicles that have met their useful life in miles and three (3) expansion paratransit vehicles. The new vehicles will be fully equipped with ADA compliant equipment.
At their June 20, 2018 meeting, the Greensboro Urban Area MPO Technical Advisory Committee approved the project.
BUDGET IMPACT:
The City has been awarded federal funds in the amount of $561,244. The City will be required to provide local matching funds in the amount of $99,043. The local match will come from Transportation Bond account 481-4531-01.6567. The total project funding is as follows:

$ 99,043 Local (15%)

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
The Department of Transportation recommends and requests that City Council approve the attached budget ordinance establishing funding for the FY 2018 FTA Section 5339 Bus and Bus Facilities Grant.
