PURPOSE:
The City of Greensboro received funding in the amount of $465,522 from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) for the purchase of eight (8) less than 30 foot replacement paratransit vehicles. The North Carolina Department of Transportation recently approved a state match funding request in the amount of $38,337 to support eligible expenses. A resolution must be approved to accept these funds.

BACKGROUND:
At the April 24, 2018 meeting, the Greensboro City Council approved a budget ordinance establishing FY2017 FTA Section 5339 Bus and Bus Facilities Grant funding in the amount of $465,522. These funds will be used to replace eight (8) less than 30 foot paratransit vehicles that have exceeded FTA's useful life standards, both in years of service and mileage. The useful life standards are 5 years or 200,000 miles for a paratransit bus.

The purchase and delivery of the eight (8) paratransit vehicles will take place during fiscal year 2019 and amount to a total cost of $547,673. The North Carolina Department of Transportation has approved a state funding match request in the amount of $38,337 (7%) for this purchase. This will reduce the City's local match to $43,814 (8%). Previously, the 15% required local match was coming entirely out of GTA's local transit fund.

BUDGET IMPACT:
The North Carolina Department of Transportation will contribute $38,337 towards the purchase of the eight (8) replacement paratransit buses during fiscal year 2019, thereby lowering the City's local match amount.

The original funding was as follows:
$465,522 (85%) Federal
$82,151 (15%) Local
$547,673...
