PURPOSE:

The Property Management Section of the Engineering & Inspections Department is in the process of acquiring right of way and easements for the W. Wendover/Sapp Road Sidewalk Project.  City Council approval is requested for the purchase of this property.

 

BACKGROUND:

The Greensboro Department of Transportation has approved the W. Wendover & Sapp Road Sidewalk Project. The main purpose of the project is to provide pedestrians with a safe route along W. Wendover Avenue, connecting to existing sidewalks on W. Wendover Avenue.     

 

The subject property is located at 4527 W. Wendover Ave., parcel #0151156. This property is owned by Humane Society of the Piedmont, Inc., previously known as Humane Society of Guilford County, Inc.  The portion of property to be purchased was appraised by Matthew Foster of Foster Appraisals and was valued at $18,125. The owners agreed to accept the appraised amount.  

 

The property is zoned CD-LI (Conditional District - Light Industrial).  The required right-of-way purchase consists of 565 Sq. Ft. (0.013 acre).  Also required is a Temporary Construction Easement requiring 1,816 Sq. Ft (0.042 acre).   

 

BUDGET IMPACT:

Funding in the amount of $18,125 for this purchase is budgeted in the Street and Sidewalk Capital Project Fund, Account #471-4502-15.6012, Activity #A11171.

 

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:

The Property Management Section of the Engineering & Inspections Department recommends the approval of this purchase.
