PURPOSE:
Collectively, the City of Greensboro, City of High Point and Guilford County have been awarded an Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program FY 2017 funding of $209,245. Award notification was received June 26, 2018. On August 6, 2018, City Council was presented with a resolution calling a public hearing for August 21, 2018 to consider authorizing grant application and execution of a Memorandum of Understanding for the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program FY 2017. Council is now requested to adopt the attached resolution and Memorandum of Understanding.

A disparate allocation occurs when a city or municipality is allocated more funds than the county, while the county bears more than 50 percent of the costs associated with prosecution or incarceration of the municipality's Part 1 violent crimes. These agencies have agreed to reallocate $209,245 JAG funds to the Greensboro Police Department...
