PURPOSE:
The Greensboro Police Department wishes to continue its contractual relationship with Bode Cellmark Forensics, Inc. The new contract is for one year (July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019) with the option to be renewed for additional one year periods. The contract will be encumbered for $50,000. The total value of the new and prior contracts with this vendor will exceed $100,000 and, therefore, requires City Council approval to continue.
BACKGROUND:
The police department has satisfactorily employed Bode Cellmark Forensics, Inc. to perform forensic DNA testing services for homicide and other critical investigations. The company will also provide local databasing service for the analysis, storage, search, match and retrieval of DNA profiles.
BUDGET IMPACT:
The contract will be funded with Greensboro Police budget funds in the amount of $50,000. Any further renewals of the contract will also be funded by police budget funds and paid out of account 101353301.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
It is requested that City Council pass the resolution allowing the Greensboro Police Department to enter into a contract in the amount of $50,000 for the period of July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019 with Bode Cellmark Forensics, Inc.
