PURPOSE:

To repeal Chapter 20 of the Greensboro Code of Ordinances.

 

BACKGROUND:

On July 24, 2018, the Greensboro City Council took the first of two necessary votes to amend Chapters 16 and 18 of the Greensboro Code of Ordinances to address concerns about blocking street and sidewalk access, solicitation in public parking facilities, and harassment in public spaces. The second vote on this Ordinance was anticipated to occur on August 21, 2018. City Council then enacted Chapter 20 of the Greensboro Code of Ordinances with Respect to Peddlers, Solicitors, Etc. Consideration of these two matters was subsequently moved to August 14, 2018.

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:

It is recommended that City Council repeal Chapter 20 of the Greensboro Code of Ordinances.
