PURPOSE:
The City of Greensboro Water Resources Department is requesting to enter into a professional services contract with Hazen and Sawyer, PC to provide design services for the Airpark Road Water Booster Station Improvements Project. City Council approval of a contract in the amount of $338,641 is requested.

BACKGROUND:
On November 28, 2017, the Water Resources Department issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for Groometown Road and Airpark Court Booster Station Design Projects. Seven firms submitted proposals by the January 18, 2018 deadline. The firms who submitted a proposal were Black and Veatch, HDR, Arcadis, Freese & Nichols, Davis-Martin-Powell and Hazen. A selection committee comprised of internal and external representatives evaluated and scored the proposals submitted by each firm. The committee evaluated the submissions based on transmittal letter, description/understanding of the scope of services, experience/qualifications of company and personnel/staff, references, and proposed M/WBE participation. The proposal submitted by Hazen and Sawyer, PC. received the top score for the Design of the Airpark Road Water Booster Station Improvements Project.

The professional services of Hazen and Sawyer, PC will be utilized to design a booster pump station to support the 1120 pressure zone. Based on the evaluation completed, a pump station with three 1 MGD (Million Gallons per Day) pumps is sufficient to boost water from the 1070 to the 1120 pressure zone.
