PURPOSE:
The bids for Contract 2018-013, Old Battleground Road 24-inch Waterline Extension project, have been received. In order for the work to proceed on this contract, City Council approval is requested for award of the contract to Yates Construction Company in the amount of $1,169,541.00.
BACKGROUND:
This work consists of all labor, equipment, and materials required for 2,800 linear feet of 24-inch ductile iron waterline. The bids were opened on June 21, 2018. The MWBE combined participation goal was 3%. Yates Construction Company (Stokesdale, NC) proposed utilization of WBE = 12.6%.

The proposed date for start of construction is August 20, 2018. The proposed date of completion is November 18, 2018.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Funds in the amount of $1,169,541.00 for this construction contract are budgeted in the Water Resources Capital Improvement Fund account 503-7028-01.6016. A budget adjustment is necessary to use this account.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
It is recommended by the Departments of Engineering & Inspections and Water Resources that City Council approve the bid and award Contract 2018-013, Old Battleground Road 24-inch Waterline Extension Project, to Yates Construction Company for the bid amount of $1,169,541.00 and the associated budget adjustment.
