PURPOSE:

The bids for Contract 2017-065, Elm Street Waterline Rehabilitation, have been received.  In order for the work to proceed on this contract, City Council approval is requested for award of the contract to Michels Corporation in the amount of $550,300.00.

 

BACKGROUND:

This work consists of all labor, equipment, and materials required for 10” water main cleaning and lining, 8” valves, 10” valves, and replacement of hydrants.

 

The bids were opened on May 31, 2018 and the apparent lowest, responsible bidder is Michels Corporation, Watertown, CT, with a bid of $550,300.00.

 

The MWBE goal was a combined 4%.

The contractor’s commitment is MBE 4.23%.

The proposed date for start of construction is August 27, 2018.  The proposed date of completion is March 15, 2019.

 

BUDGET IMPACT:

Funds in the amount of $550,300.00 for this construction contract are budgeted in the Water Resources Capital Improvement Fund account 503-7027-01.6016 A18036.

 

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:

It is recommended by the Departments of Engineering & Inspections and Water Resources that City Council approve the bid and award Contract 2017-065, Elm Street Water Line Rehabilitation, to Michels Corporation for the bid amount of $550,300.00.
