PURPOSE:

To grant a Global Encroachment agreement in City right-of-way and City property for the installation of engraved and/or etched sidewalk device. When public or private entities request to use City right-of-way, it is required that they secure approval by City Council.

 

This agreement was originally approved on March 14, 2016 with Downtown Greensboro, Inc. (DGI).  The Greensboro Chamber of Commerce is requesting that the agreement be revised to become their scope of work instead.

 

BACKGROUND:

Greensboro Chamber of Commerce approached the City in order to request installation of engraved and/or etched sidewalk device in City right-of-way. 

The Greensboro Chamber of Commerce has designed an engraved and/or etched sidewalk device symbolizing ‘LoveMarks’.

This encroachment device is to be installed within the sidewalk at various locations around Greensboro. Future placement of the devices will be subject to approval by City staff.

 

BUDGET IMPACT:

There is no budget impact. All associated costs will be incurred by Greensboro Chamber of Commerce.

 

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:

Engineering & Inspections recommends that City Council grant Greensboro Chamber of Commerce a Global Encroachment agreement for the use of installing the engraved and/or etched sidewalk devices in City right-of-way and City property.
