PURPOSE:
The City of Greensboro Water Resources Department is requesting to enter into a professional services contract with Arcadis G&M of North Carolina, Inc. to provide design services for the Birch Creek Water and Sewer Line Extension project.
BACKGROUND:
The Birch Creek Water and Sewer Line Extension project includes the installation of water and sewer lines to support commercial/industrial development east of the City. Approximately 3,600 linear feet of 16-inch water line will be installed parallel to Birch Creek Road and connect to a water main on Hwy 70. In addition, approximately 9,600 linear feet of 12-inch, 18-inch, and 21-inch gravity sewer will connect to the existing 24-inch sewer outfall which further connects to Stewart Mill Lift Station. Work under this contract consists of surveying, engineering design, permitting, and bid preparation services for the construction of the water and sewer line extensions. The professional services of Arcadis G&M of North Carolina, Inc., an on-call consultant are recommended for this project based on their knowledge and previous design experience with the City's water and sewer collection system. JC Waller and Associates, PC and Cartographic Aerial Mapping will provide surveying services for the project. Both Minority Business Enterprise firms are within the ten county MSA and are part of the Arcadis G&M of North Carolina, Inc. on-call services team. The anticipated MBE utilization for this design services contract is 21% of the total contract amount.
