PURPOSE:
Shehzad Quamar, representing S&S Holdings of Greensboro, LLC, is requesting rezoning from R-5 (Residential Single Family) to C-L (Commercial Low) for property located at 604 East Gate City Boulevard and 701 & 703 Martin Street, generally described as the southeast corner of the East Gate City Boulevard and Martin Street intersection.

Because this request was appealed following the decision of the Zoning Commission, the City Council will conduct a public hearing to consider and take action on this request at its April 17, 2018 meeting.

BACKGROUND:
Following a public hearing on March 19, 2018, the Zoning Commission voted 7-0 to approve this request only for 604 E. Gate City Blvd and 701-703 Martin Street. The Commission denied the rezoning request for 705 Martin Street. The decision to approve was then appealed to City Council within the required 10-day appeal period.

1 person spoke in favor of the request and one person spoke in opposition to the request. (See minutes of the March 19, 2018 Zoning Commission meeting). Since the Zoning Commission's vote to approve was appealed, the City Council will review and take action following a public hearing.

BUDGET IMPACT:
This item will have no budget impact.
