PURPOSE:
Allocations are for programs funded through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) administered by the City of Greensboro's Office of Workforce Development. A budget amendment needs to be approved to allow the expenditure of funds.
BACKGROUND:
1. Includes Detail Section 1 in Attachment A. The NC Department of Commerce provides rapid response contingency funds for dislocated workers to local WDBs based on request. The Guilford WDB has been granted funds in the amount of $200,000 effective 11/08/2017, expiring 6/30/2018.
The Guilford WDB DW Rapid Response Fund is created in the amount of $200,000.
2. Includes Detail Section 2 in Attachment A. The NC Department of Commerce has provided funding for brochures and marketing materials to local WDBs. The Guilford WDB has been granted funds in the amount of $5,851 effective 10/18/2017, expiring 12/31/2018.
The Guilford WDB Marketing Fund is created in the amount of $5,851.
3. Includes Detail Section 3 in Attachment A. The NC Department of Commerce has provided funding for infrastructure costs for the NCWorks Career Centers as of 1/01/2018. Based on the NC Department of Commerce's calculations, the Guilford WDB has been granted funds in the amount of $44,598 effective 1/01/2018, expiring 6/30/2019.
The Guilford WDB Cost Sharing Fund is created in the amount of $44,598.
4. Includes Detail Section 4 in Attachment A. The NC Department of Commerce provides program enhancement funds for workforce board capacity building and service enhancement purposes based on request.
