PURPOSE:
Volkert, Inc. was selected to provide construction inspection the Battleground Avenue (US 220) and Westridge Road Intersection Improvements Project (U-5306 B). City Council approval of the professional services contract with Volkert, Inc. in the amount of $525,003.40 is requested.
BACKGROUND:
This project includes installation of intersection improvements: roadway widening, asphalt overlay, concrete sidewalks, driveways, curb cuts, median islands, retaining walls, and associated erosion control items.
Our six on-call Consultant Engineering Inspections (CEI) professional services firms were considered for this project. Prime consideration was given to their past experience and performance with projects involving streetscape work, sidewalks, roadway configuration, traffic analysis, landscaping, utility design, and public participation. As a result of the analysis by the Transportation and Engineering & Inspections Departments, Volkert, Inc. was selected for the project.
The roadway work is to begin by spring 2018 and is to be completed by spring 2020.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Funds for the professional services contract are available in State, Federal, and Other Grants Fund account 220-4588-01.6014 A12083.
This project is funded 100% through Federal and State funds therefore the State's DBEs apply for this project.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
The Engineering & Inspections and Transportation Departments recommend authorizing the award in the amount of $525,003.40 for the Battleground Avenue (US 220) and Westridge Road...
