PURPOSE:
The bids for Contract 2014-010, Pleasant Ridge Road - Sewer Line Extension, have been received. In order for the work to proceed on this contract, City Council approval is requested for award of the contract to Yates Construction Company in the amount of $1,287,502.15.
BACKGROUND:
This work consists of all labor, equipment, and materials required for: installing approximately 2360 lf of 8” sanitary sewer line, 6 manholes, and 2 services.
The bids were opened on November 28, 2017 and the apparent lowest, responsible bidder is Yates Construction Company (Stokesdale, NC) with a bid of $1,287,502.15.
The MWBE goals were MBE 5% and WBE 4%.
The contractor’s commitment is MBE 6.2% and WBE 5.3%.

BUDGET IMPACT:
Funds for this construction contract are budgeted in the Water Resources Capital Improvement Fund account 503-7027-02.6017 A18040. A budget adjustment is needed to use this account.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
It is recommended by the Departments of Engineering & Inspections and Water Resources that City Council approve the bid and award Contract 2014-010, Pleasant Ridge Road - Sewer Line Extension, to Yates Construction Company for the bid amount of $1,287,502.15.
