PURPOSE:
The bids for Contract 2010-010, Horsepen Creek Road Widening, have been received. In order for the work to proceed on this contract, City Council approval is requested for award of the contract to Yates Construction Company in the amount of $24,984,556.10.
BACKGROUND:
This work consists of all labor, equipment, and materials required for: grading, drainage, paving, curb and gutter, sidewalk, driveways, curb cuts, guardrail, fencing, retaining walls, water and sewer relocation, erosion control, removal of existing box culvert and construction of two new bridges over Horsepen Creek.
The bids were opened on November 29, 2017 and the apparent lowest, responsible bidder is Yates Construction Company (Stokesdale, NC) with a bid of $24,984,556.10.
The MWBE goals were MBE 7% and WBE 8%.
The contractor's commitment is MBE 7.2% and WBE 8.1%.

BUDGET IMPACT:
Funding for this contract will come from 2008 bond fund account 471-4502-08.6014 A17074. A budget adjustment is required to move funds into the appropriate account.
