PURPOSE:
City Council to consider construction of a sewer line extension on the basis of a Petition for Local Improvements. The proposed 8-inch sewer line extension is to provide service to the 4006 Primrose Avenue property. City Council shall hold a Public Hearing to consider any property owners objections to the legality of authorizing the assessable sewer line improvement project in compliance with City Charter Section 6.140. City Council approval is requested in order for the work to proceed.

BACKGROUND:
Per City Charter Section 6.136 & 137 a petition requesting sewer service improvements was signed by the majority of the assessable property owners who own a majority of the adjacent property frontage along the limits of the proposed sewer line improvement. The City Legal Department has verified the sufficiency of the petition and the project is being submitted to the City Council for its consideration. A Notice of Public Hearing for Local Improvements was mailed to the last known property owners on November 30, 2017 and advertised on December 7, 2017.

BUDGET IMPACT:
The estimated construction cost of this project is $50,300. The properties will be assessed at $16.00 per front foot for the sewer line as allowed by City Charter Section 6.131. The projected recovery through assessments levied against the adjoining properties is approximately $16,000. Funding for the project is budgeted in the Water Resources Capital Improvements fund in account 503-7027-02.6017 Activity A18040.
