PURPOSE:
City Council approval is requested for Utility Reimbursement Agreement U-2525C with North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to support construction of the Urban Loop from U.S. 29 to Lawndale Drive which will involve the relocation and adjustment of some water and sewer utility infrastructure.
BACKGROUND:
The North Carolina Department of Transportation has prepared and adopted plans to make certain street and highway construction improvements under project U-2525C, in Guilford County, for roadway construction of the Eastern Urban Loop from US 29 to Lawndale Drive in Northwest Greensboro. To provide water service in these areas necessitates the construction and relocation of existing lines to impacted facilities. These lines and associated adjustments have been included in the construction contract with an estimated cost to the City of Greensboro of $1,933,567.00. The North Carolina Department of Transportation has prepared a Utility Agreement to cover this work for execution by both parties.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Funds are budgeted in Water Resources Capital Improvements Fund accounts: 503-7027-03.6017 A18043 in the amount of $453,954; and 503-7027-01.5615 in the amount of $1,292,454; and 503-7027-02.5615 in the amount of $187,159. A budget adjustment is needed to use these accounts.
