PURPOSE: City Council is requested to approve the attached Change Order from Bar Construction for the Exterior Site Improvements at Guilford Metro 911
BACKGROUND:
Guilford Metro 911 staff has recently completed several external renovations to the facility for a more secure and accessible route for visitors and training attendees. The most recent site improvement upgrades included creating a safer flow of traffic into the facility by relocating the main entrance to the parking lot along with a separate exit route, paving, and installation of perimeter fencing along the road frontage to provide better security for this mission critical facility.
This change order is to add paving, replace the existing entrance approach, and replace a portion of chain link fencing. The site improvement project will be complete with the approval of this change order.
The MWBE % will increase with this change order. New percentages of MBE 9.5% and WBE of 19.9% exceeded established goals. The original Contract amount was $260,100. This second change order will increase the contract amount to $316,538.20

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
Guilford Metro 911 & Engineering & Inspections Department recommends that City Council approve the Change Order submitted by Bar Construction in the amount of $11,195.38.
