PURPOSE:
The bids for Contract 2017-063 Phase II Improvements to Marylene F. Griffin Community Park have been received. In order for the work to proceed on this contract, City Council approval is requested for award of the contract to A Vogt Construction, LLC in the amount of $512,826.98

BACKGROUND:
Phase II Improvements to Marylene F. Griffin Community Park are consistent with the recommendations included in its adopted master plan and will include the development of a two-acre dog park and related amenities, construction of a service road/access extension to the dog park, additional parking, a large shelter, and storm system piping improvements. Additional site work needed for development will also include a significant amount of soil removal, clearing, and grading required for the shelter, dog park, and road/pathway construction, in addition, to required erosion control mechanisms and water line extension and service connections.

The bids for this project were opened on September 27, 2017 and the apparent lowest, responsible bidder is A Vogt Construction with a bid of $512,826.98.

The M/WBE utilization goal was MBE 7% and WBE 8%. After a Good Faith Effort (GFE) review from the M/WBE Office, it was determined the contractor achieve the 50 GFE requirements, thus qualifying the bid. The contractor's commitment on the project are MBE 1.17% and MWE 3.88%.
