PURPOSE:
To permit the Legal Department to continue its existing contract with West Group, Inc. This contract provides access to the West Law online research system and related materials. These research tools are used by both attorneys and staff in the Legal department to conduct legal research.
BACKGROUND:
The original contract was executed in 2013 for a minimum term of 36 months for both the online subscription and the West Complete Library subscription. The West Complete Library subscription automatically renews on a yearly basis and will terminate October 31, 2017.
BUDGET IMPACT:
There is no budget impact; the funds are already budgeted in the current fiscal year. The estimated amount required to process existing invoices is $12,000.00 dollars. This expense will come out of the Legal departments account 101-1501-01-5223. This expenditure would exceed the $100,000.00 limit for the life of this contract and therefore requires Council approval.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
It is requested the City Council approve a Resolution authorizing Payment to the West Group, Inc.
