PURPOSE:
The City of Greensboro has received funds in the amount of $960,000 from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) to support eligible expenses for the Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2016 FTA Section 5339b Bus and Bus Facilities Discretionary Grant. A budget ordinance must be approved to allow the expenditures.
BACKGROUND:
The City of Greensboro successfully received funding in the amount of $960,000 through the 2016 FTA Section 5339b Bus and Bus Facilities Discretionary Grant program. These funds will be used for renovation of the GTA Ticketing, Call Center, and Waiting areas of the J. Douglas Galyon Depot. Specific improvements include expansion and relocation of the Operator's Lounge, staff offices, and customer waiting area and restroom facilities. A new 'concierge style' ticket counter and call center and security station will be centrally located to enhance convenience and visibility.
At their September 28, 2016 meeting, the Greensboro Urban Area MPO Transportation Advisory Committee approved the project.
BUDGET IMPACT:
The City has been awarded federal funds in the amount of $960,000. The City will be required to provide local matching funds in the amount of $240,000. These funds will be budgeted in the 2016 Transportation Bond Account 481-4531-03.6567. A budget adjustment is required to move funds to the appropriate account.
