PURPOSE:
The bids for Contract 2014-024 - General Sidewalk Improvements (U-5532 D) have been received. In order for the work to proceed on this contract, City Council approval is requested for award of the contract to ASJ Wilson Construction, LLC in the amount of $393,446.00.
BACKGROUND:
This work consists of all labor, equipment, and incidentals required for installing approximately 1337 SY of concrete sidewalks; along with ADA compliant concrete curb cuts, driveways, etc.
The bids were opened on July 27, 2017 and the apparent lowest, responsible bidder is ASJ Wilson Construction, LLC (Greensboro, NC) with a bid of $393,446.00.
The DBE utilization goal was 14%.
The contractor's commitment is DBE = 19.7%.

The proposed date for start of construction is October 23, 2017. The proposed date of completion is May 11, 2018.
BUDGET IMPACT:
Funds for this construction contract are budgeted in the following Street and Sidewalk Capital Project Fund account: 401-4569-01.6015 A16098
This is a Federal Funded contract/project and is subject to 80% reimbursement by FHWA. A budget adjustment is required to move funds into the appropriate account.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
It is recommended by the Departments of Engineering & Inspections and GDOT that City Council approve the bid and award Contract 2014-024 - General Sidewalk Improvements (U-5532 D) to ASJ Wilson Company, LLC for the bid amount of $393,446.00 and approve the associated budget adjustment.
