PURPOSE:

The Parks and Recreation Department is in the process of accepting a designated drainageway and open space property as described on the approved and recorded subdivision plat listed below. City Council approval of the acceptance is requested.

BACKGROUND:

The Parks and Recreation Department has been presented with the opportunity to accept a parcel for drainageway and open space property for dedication. The parcel has been designated as park space and was dedicated by the current owner as park space. The City has the option of accepting the property and taking ownership after dedication.  The owner of the property is listed below with the address and plat book number for dedication. The indicated open space area in this packet will become City owned property. The Parks and Recreation Commission approved the recommendation to accept the property at its meeting on August 9, 2017. The subject property is located at 3807 Martin Ave., parcel #0048048 (1.47 acres), and the subdivision plat is Plat book 172 Page 67. The property is zoned CD-R-5, located in District 2 and currently owned by John K. Marks.

BUDGET IMPACT:

Funding in the amount of $26.00 for the Guilford County Register of Deeds recording fee is budgeted in the Parks and Recreation Department Account #101-5029-01.5288. Funding for the minimal maintenance of the drainageway and open space area is currently budgeted in the Field Operations Right-of Way maintenance budget.

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:

The Parks and Recreation Department recommends approval of the acceptance of these dedications by deed.
