PURPOSE:
The City of Greensboro received funding in the amount of $511,397 for the purchase of nine (9) replacement paratransit vehicles. The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) approved a state funding match request in the amount of $42,115 to support eligible expenses. A resolution must be approved to accept these funds.
BACKGROUND:
At the November 1, 2016 meeting, the Greensboro City Council approved a budget ordinance establishing FY2015 FTA Section 5339 Bus and Bus Facilities grant funding in the amount of $511,397. These funds will be used to replace nine (9) paratransit vehicles that have exceeded FTA's useful life standards, both in years of service and mileage. The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) has approved a state funding match request in the amount of $42,115 for this purchase, which will reduce with the City's local match from$90,247 to $48,132 and be combined with FTA funding of $511,397. Previously, the 15% required local match was coming entirely from City funds.
BUDGET IMPACT:
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will contribute $42,115 towards the purchase of nine (9) replacement paratransit vehicles during fiscal year 2018. This will reduce the City's local match amount. These grant funds are budgeted in GTA Grant Fund Budget 567-509-01.
