PURPOSE:
The City of Greensboro received funding in the amount of $450,610 for the purchase of seven (7) replacement paratransit vehicles. The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) approved a state funding match request in the amount of $37,109 to support eligible expenses. A resolution must be approved to accept these funds.

BACKGROUND:
At the April 18, 2017 meeting, the Greensboro City Council approved a budget ordinance establishing FY2016 FTA Section 5339 Bus and Bus Facilities grant funding in the amount of $450,610. These funds will be used to replace seven (7) paratransit vehicles that have exceeded FTA's useful life standards, both in years of service and mileage. The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) has approved a state funding match request in the amount of $37,109 for this purchase, which will reduce the City's local match from $79,519 to $42,410 and be combined with FTA funding of $450,610. Previously, the 15% required local match was coming entirely from City funds.

BUDGET IMPACT:
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will contribute $37,109 towards the purchase of seven (7) replacement paratransit vehicles during fiscal year 2018. This will reduce the City's local match amount. The grant funds are budgeted in GTA Grant Fund account 567-4511-01.

The original funding was as follows:
$450,610 (85%) Federal
$ 79,519 (15%) Local
$530,129

The revised funding, accounting for all state matching funds, will be as follows:
$450,610 (85%) Federal
$ 37,109 (7%) State
$ 42,410 (8%) Local
$530,129

A budget adjustment is required ...
