PURPOSE: City Council is requested to approve the attached Change Order from Bar Construction for the Exterior Site Improvements at Guilford Metro 911

BACKGROUND:
Guilford Metro 911staff, over the last several years, have completed several interior renovations creating new offices, expanding the call center and training rooms. As a part of this process the administrative offices and public entrance to the facility were relocated to allow for a more secure and accessible route for visitors' and training attendees. This current phase of the facility upgrades included creating a safer flow of traffic into the facility by relocating the main entrance to the parking lot along with a separate exit route. This phase also includes installing a security fence along the road frontage and gated access point from the lower overflow parking area to upgrade and enhance security for this mission critical facility.

This change order is to add additional conduit for the card access control system to the exit gate along with repaving the partially paved/gravel lot used by the Technical Services Division. This lot has increased traffic into the shop which has resulted in the pavement failing.

The MWBE % will not change with this change order. Percentages of MBE 5.4% and WBE of 8.9% exceeded established goals. The original Contract amount was $260,100. This change order will increase the contract amount to $305,342.82
