PURPOSE:
Michael Baker Engineering, Inc. was selected to provide construction inspection the Holts Chapel Road and Lowdermilk Street Roadway and Sidewalk Improvements Project. City Council approval of the professional services contract with Michael Baker Engineering, Inc. in the amount of $717,064.31 is requested.

BACKGROUND:
This project includes installation of intersection improvements: roadway widening, asphalt overlay, concrete sidewalks, driveways, curb and gutter, curb cuts, retaining walls, and associated erosion control items.

Our six on-call Consultant Engineering Inspections (CEI) professional services firms were considered for this project. Prime consideration was given to their past experience and performance with projects involving streetscape work, sidewalks, roadway configuration, traffic analysis, landscaping, utility design, and public participation. As a result of the analysis by the Transportation and Engineering & Inspections Departments, Michael Baker Engineering, Inc. was selected for the project.

The roadway work is to begin by October 2017 and is to be completed by September 2019.

This is a Federal Funded contract and is subject to 80% reimbursement by the FHWA.

BUDGET IMPACT:
Funds for the professional services contract are available in the following Street and Sidewalk Capital Project Fund account:
