PURPOSE:
The Governor's Crime Commission (GCC) has awarded the Greensboro Police Department federal gap funding of $22,256 for the Greensboro Child Response Initiative (CRI) Program. The award requires a 20% match of $5,564 = total gap funding $27,820. The gap funding will support the program from July 1, 2017 to September 30, 2017.The City will provide the cash match from the funds allocated to CRI in non-departmental funds.

The original grant application was approved on December 15, 2015 (Ord#15-0928). In accordance with current City fiscal procedures, approval to increase the grant budget is needed from City Council.

BACKGROUND:
The Governor's Crime Commission is transitioning from a July through June fiscal year to the federal fiscal year of October through September. Realizing the impact the shift will have on grantees, gap funding for the months between July 1, 2017 and September 30, 2017 is being offered for essential expenses with approval. The purpose for gap funding is to continue funding for grantees that have or will run out of funding by June 30, 2017. The next award date for GCC programs will be October 1, 2017.

The requested funding will support the clinical supervisor/principle investigator and two advocate positions who will deliver the specialized CRI mental health advocacy.

BUDGET IMPACT:
